JOB SUMMARY

The Business Systems Analyst works with the user community and internal team to determine systems requirements and functionalities. This position works primarily within our software development division (Exzeo).  The BSA analyzes business processes and writes system process specifications to be used. The BSA will assist in the evaluation and testing of new or modified software programs and software development procedures to verify that the program functions according to user requirements and conforms to established guidelines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet the business needs.
 

  • Work closely with the Product Manager, developers, and other key stakeholders to define and implement the software project. Under the guidance of the product manager, responsible for the full life cycle of the product, including analysis, definition, implementation, testing, and support.
    • Gathers requirements, evaluates alternatives and defines the Statement of Work.
    • Creates detailed requirement specifications/use cases for the development team
    • User Acceptance Testing
  • Act as a liaison between the user community and support teams
  • Participate with the team to determine systems requirements and functionalities
  • Prepare accurate and detailed requirement specifications/use cases as well as communicate in writing or in meetings with the development team
  • Manage any change requests related to the project plan to adhere to the timeline
  • Must be able to articulate questions, thoughts, and to give direction to offshore team members, which requires a work schedule beginning at 7:00 a.m
  • Responsible for developing and executing formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality web applications.
  • Participate in all phases of system testing
  • Involved in test planning, writing test cases/scripts, creating reusable test data, test case automation, and test execution
  • Timely follow up, investigation, troubleshooting and resolution of production support incidents
  • Initiate, monitor and follow-up for resolution of outstanding service requests
  • Participate in quality audits across the various IT functions to ensure quality standards, procedures and methodologies are being followed



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
 

  • Familiar with Agile software development
  • Detail oriented, problem solver
  • Able to work independently
  • Work with development team to meet project schedules
  • Prioritize development efforts based on business needs
  • Ability to write marketing/benefit-focused copy a plus
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing methodologies and documentation preferred
  • Experience with developing test plans and test scripts, executing test cases for large and complex business processes
  • Experience writing SQL Server queries preferred
  • GIS experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, mathematical, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience with Android, IOS, and cross-browser platforms preferred
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide a sense of direction and leadership to offshore team members



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 

  • A.A. or equivalent education required; B.A. or B.S. degree preferred
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience in IT field
  • Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance experience preferred
